Lewis Earns CofC Presidential Scholarship

Congratulations to Brookland-Cayce senior Taylor Lewis who has been awarded the College of Charleston Presidential Scholarship valued at $28,000 over four years ($7,000 per year). This represents the most prestigious scholastic award issued by CofC.

Lewis signed a National Letter of Intent earlier this month to attend the College of Charleston and will play for the Cougars soccer program.

USC Coaching Style Study

B-C head coach Kevin Heise will be part of a study being conducted by the University of South Carolina Department of Physical Education and Athletic Training for the 2010 spring season. The study will focus on the different coaching styles of boys' varsity soccer coaches.

Each varsity player has a letter from USC that must be signed and returned on Thursday, Feb. 18 to Coach Heise.

Carolina Soccer Classic Hotel

B-C will stay at the Best Western Patriots Point in Mount Pleasant for the Carolina Soccer Classic February 26-28, 2010.

Snowed Out at The Cage!!!

Due to the record amount of snowfall the weekend of February 12-13th, the Bearcat Soccerama Jamboree was canceled.

Due to the inclement (snow) weather, the Bearcat Soccerama Jamboree has been canceled for 2010.

Alumni Game Information - 2/20/10

Message to Alumni:

Hope everyone is well. Not sure if you are aware, but we have the 5th Alumni match coming up February 20, 2010. Currently the series between the Boys Varsity squad and Alumni squad is 2-1-1 with the Alums having the advantage. We have a 3 game undefeated streak that we need to keep going .

This year’s event will be a big celebration as Coach Kevin Heise is celebrating his 20th season as Varsity coach at BC. There aren’t many coaches that stay at one place for 20 years and have had the success that Kevin has had year in and year out. Just so you know, in his 19 seasons so far, here are some of his accomplishments:

Overall record of 315-131-17 .699 win percentage. Top 10 among active coaches in South Carolina in terms of career victories and is one of only nine prep coaches in the Palmetto State to eclipse the 300-win plateau.

We are hoping to get friends and family out to the game to help celebrate Kevin’s 20th season and to celebrate the program that he has built here at BC. It will be great to see old friends and to see how out of shape we all are! For those who have been involved in past Alumni matches, this is going to be similar to the weekends festivities from 2 years ago. After talks with Will Eudy (’95), Troy Lesesne (’01) and other Alums, we have come up with some ideas. The match itself will be the same, but we are trying to make it more of an entire weekend gathering of former teammates and friends. Plan are as follows:
Friday Night--February 19th, 2010

7:30-- Dinner at Grecian Gardens with the current Varsity Boys squad and coaches. This will give us a chance to interact with the current squad and allow us to catch up with former teammates. We will be having a buffet style (pizza, salad, chicken strips). If you plan to attend the dinner please let me know ASAP so I can let the restaurant know how many will be attending

9:00-- After dinner with the current squad, the adults will head on to Bogart’s to continue the celebrations.

Saturday--February 20th, 2010

12:30-- Girls Alumni Game

2:30-- Boys Alumni Game

7:30-- Evening…. we will have an outing for both Girls and Boys Alumni at Hard Knox Grill or Bogart's in West Columbia. Please feel free to bring wives,husbands, girlfriends,boyfriends or any friends. It will be a celebration long into the night.

For those who are interested in attending any of the weekend festivities, please contact me so we can better organize the weekend. Also, if you have other ideas please let me know.

Friday, Feb. 12 Canceled

Due to the pending weather today, Lexington Two has canceled all after school activities for Friday, February 12. There will be NO SOCCER (boys/girls) today.

As for the Bearcat Soccerama Jamboree, scheduled for Saturday, February 13 ... Lexington Two Asst. Superintendent Jim Hinton will contact me tomorrow morning at 5:00 am with directions on how to proceed (play or cancel) the Jamboree for tomorrow.

If we have to cancel, I will post the info on this Blog and the Bearcat Soccer website ... In addition, we will send out an email as well.

B-C Soccer Contact:

We are expected to received up to 2" of rain tomorrow, plus some rain tonight. Needless to say, this will put heavy stress on the soccer field at The Cage and we will not hold the Maroon & Black as scheduled on Saturday.

We will postpone the parents meeting and cookout to Saturday, February 13 in conjunction with our Bearcat Soccer Jamboree at The Cage.

The girls will eat after their games and the boys will eat after their games. The parents meeting will be held at:

Girls - 2 pm
Boys - 4 pm

Please spread the word to your players ASAP.
