B-C/CRSA U17 Players @ SCYSA State Final

Congratulations to the Congaree Rapid SKY92 U17 boys team that captured the SCYSA U17 Boys Presidents Medal Cup, November 14-15, 2009 at Spartanburg, SC.

The Rapid, coached by B-C assistant coach Marcus Hunter, posted an 11-0-1 mark on the year! Congratulations to the Rapid!

B-C Players Help CRSA U17 Team To State Title

Congratulations to the following Brookland-Cayce soccer players that competed on the Congaree Rapid SKY92 U17 boys team that captured the SCYSA Classic Cup November 14-15 at Spartanburg, SC.

Josh Boatwright (JR), Ryan Bristow (JR), Herbert Cojulun (FR), Corey Day (SO), Juan Flores (SO), Richie Linton (JR), and Christian Nordenstam (JR Exchange Student - Sweden).

The Rapid are coached by Bearcat assistant coach Marcus Hunter. The team will travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma June 10-13 to represent the Palmetto State in the Region III President's Cup.

B-C Alum Pinner Named NJCAA All-Region X 2nd Team

Press Release:

Congratulations to West Columbia native Chris Pinner for being selected to the Second Team All Region for Men's Soccer at USC Sumter. USC Sumter competes in Region X in the NJCAA.

Pinner is a 2008 graduate of Brookland Cayce High School where he played under Coach Kevin Heise. Pinner concluded his last season at USC Sumter as Co-Captain for the Fire Ants under Coach John Borycki.

Corey Day Qualifies for Cross Country State Meet

Congratulations to sophomore Corey Day on his qualification to the Cross Country Class 3A State Meet which will be held this Saturday, November 7 at Sandhills. Corey is one of just two B-C boys to qualify for the meet. Well done!

Kylie Marie Heise (June 5 - October 16, 2009)

It is with an unbelievably heavy heart that I announce the passing of Kylie Marie Heise Friday morning (Oct. 16) shortly before noon. Kylie was found unresponsive in her crib at day care and emergency personnel were immediately called. They were unable to revive her. Thompson's Funeral Home on US #1 in Lexington will be handling arrangements. We will let you know more when we have details. Prayers for Kyle and Wendy and all the family are requested at this horrible time in their lives. -- David Easley

High School Soccer Day @ USC/Tulsa Match 10/11/09

Brookland-Cayce HS soccer players will be admitted for just $1 to the USC vs. Tulsa men's soccer match on Sunday, October 11 at Stone Stadium. Players are asked to wear Bearcat Soccer gear to help identify our program.

We look forward to seeing the Bearcats out en masse at The Graveyard!

2010 Bearcat Soccer Team Organization Meeting


* Winter Conditioning will begin Monday, November 30th at BCHS. We will meet at the track at 4:15 p.m. Sessions will last until 5:45 p.m. We will also have sessions at Granby Education Center and players are responsible for their transportation to these sessions as well. A schedule will be posted online at www.scsoccer.com/bcsoccer at a later date. We will have conditioning sessions Monday-Thursday for November and December. In January, we will increase workouts to Monday-Friday. The weight room sessions will begin the week of November 30th and will be open to all 9th-12th graders.

* We will be fielding two teams in the Plex Indoor Varsity division this winter under the team name “Cayce Black” (Varsity) and “Cayce Maroon” (JV). The cost is $25 per player and we will fill 14 spots per team. Players will be responsible for their own transportation to this activity. Checks should be made payable to BCHS. “Cayce Black” players will need to wear black shirts, black shorts, and black socks to the matches. “Cayce Maroon” players will need to wear maroon shirts, white shorts, and white socks to the matches. A team roster will be posted by November 18th.

* Players are responsible for having a physical completed and turned in by Tuesday, January 12th. If you have already played a sport at BCHS this year, then you are clear, but if you have not, then you need to make arrangements to do so.

* All paperwork is due on Tuesday, January 19th. The paperwork includes the following:

o Pre-Participation History & Physical Exam
o Brookland-Cayce High School Sports Medicine - Emergency & Consent Form
o Athletic Participation Fee - $40 for high school athletes & $20 for middle school athletes (checks made payable to Brookland-Cayce HS)
o Athletic Policy Form
o Copy of Birth Certificate – if you have already played a sport at BCHS before, then this is not necessary – only new players

* Soccer season will officially start with tryouts February 1-3 at Granby Education Center. B-Team tryouts will be held from 4:15-6:00 p.m. and Varsity/Junior Varsity tryouts will be held from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
