Junior Varsity / B-Team Halftime Recognition Wednesday

All boys JV and B-Team players are asked to attend the Varsity match Wednesday night at The Cage vs. Rock Hill at 7:00 p.m. The JV and B-Team will be recognized at halftime of the Varsity match for their achievements in 2008. Brandon Boyd Earns Scholarship

Congratulations to senior Brandon Boyd who has been selected by the USC College of Engineering and Computing to receive a 2008 Engineering and Computing Enhanced LIFE Scholarship (ECELS). This award supplements both the LIFE and University-level scholarships. The total of funds will cover tuition and fees for the 2008-2009 academic year. Assuming Brandon maintains eligibility for the LIFE Scholarship and makes satisfactory progress towards a degree in Engineering or Computing, the ECELS commitment will be renewed automatically to cover four academic years. Great job Brandon!

From Columbia- Take I-26 towards Spartanburg till you come to the Peak Exit. This will exit 97. Take a left and go over I-26 for about 7/10 of a mile until you come to Bickley Road. Take a right onto Bickley Road and follow for about 8/10 of a mile till you come to Bird Road. Take a right onto Bird Road and you can drive straight into the soccer complex. If you go over some Railroad tracks and come to a stop light you have gone to far.

Aiken, SC -- Brookland-Cayce defeated Class 4A #12 Aiken 1-0 at Hagood Stadium. Brazilian exchange student Eduardo Adam scored the Bearcats lone goal in the 67th minute. Goalkeeper Chris Duzan recorded his eighth shutout on the season.

Directions to Aiken HS - Hagood Stadium

Directions

Aiken High is off of I-20 Exit 22 from Columbia. Take a left and travel until you see Rutland Drive and a big green signthat says Aiken High School and take a right and the schoolis a mile up on the left. The football/soccer field, track, baseball field,and softball field are all located in the sports complex off of Teague street which is the left immediately after the Aiken High campus.

The boys JV and Varsity will travel together via district bus. The teams will have sandwiches and bottled water for the ride to Aiken. The teams will leave at 4:00 p.m. from BCHS. The JV plays at 6:00 p.m. and the Varsity at 7:30 p.m. We will stop at a fast food restaurant on the return trip home. Bring some spending money.

2008 Bearcat Soccer Camp

Brookland-Cayce Varsity will host the 19th Annual Bearcat Soccer Camp at Granby Education Center July 14-18 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The cost of camp is $65 and is open to boys and girls ages 5-14. Each camper will receive a t-shirt. Applications are available at Bearcat Soccer Camp Application.

Chapin Wins Region 4-3A

Chapin, SC -- Class 3A #3 Chapin (16-3) scored just five minutes into the match and received ambiguous offsides call that resulted in a second goal to down region rival #8 Brookland-Cayce (11-5-1) and claim their second consecutive Region IV-AAA title. The Bearcats fought hard the entire match and had several opportunities to score, but came up empty and will likely finish second in the region.

Congratulations to the Eagles on their region title and to the Bearcats for their inspired effort!

2008-09 Physicals Offered

2008-09 Physicals Offered

Sports physicals for the 2008-09 school year will be offered on Saturday, May 17 at Moore Clinic Ambulatory Surgery Center in Lexington. The cost is only $10 per student-athlete and all the proceeds will go back to each student's school sports medicine department. No appointments are necessary! These physicals will be good for all sports at B-C for the entire 2008-09 school year!

Please make $10 checks payable to Brookland-Cayce HS and make sure that each check has a valid driver's license number and phone number.

Transportation will be provided from BCHS. Boys will leave at 7:30 a.m. for 8:00 appointment. Girls will depart at 8:30 a.m. for 9:00 a.m. appointment. Student-athletes may also arrange their own transportation. The address for the Moore Clinic is:

Bearcats Win Catfight

CAYCE, S.C. - Brookland-Cayce defeated Class 2A #6 Batesburg-Leesville 3-0 Thursday night at The Cage.

Scoring for B-C was senior Robby Setzler, junior Eduardo Adam, and an own-goal by the Panthers. Sophomore goalkeeper Chris Duzan recorded his seventh shutout for the season.

The Bearcats improve to 10-4-1, while Batesburg-Leesville drops to 6-4. Brookland-Cayce will host region foe Swansea on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at The Cage.

B-C Trio Sign With USC-Sumter

USC-Sumter will field their inaugural men's soccer team this fall and the Fire Ants will compete as members of Region 10 in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

Joining Christopher and Robby for the signing is 2007 graduate Andrew Richardson who is transferring from the University of South Carolina to USC-Sumter.

Bearcats Blank Raptors

Cayce, SC - Brookland-Cayce used two early second half penalty kick conversions by Brazilian exchange student Eduardo Adam to down Class 1A #1 Academic Magnet 3-0 in the first-ever meeting between the two teams at The Cage Tuesday night. Senior Robby Setzler added a third goal in the 77th minute and sophomore goalkeeper Chris Duzan turned in his most impressive outing of the year in registering his sixth shutout of the season. Class 3A #8 B-C improves to 9-4-1, while the Raptors fall to 8-2.

B-C Clip Eagles in OT

West Columbia, SC - Brookland-Cayce eked out a 2-1 overtime decision against arch-rival Airport Thursday night at Eagle Stadium.

B-C posted a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute as Brazilian exchange-student Eduardo Adam hammered home a goal from a Jose Guzman dummy on a Josh Davis corner kick. Airport's defense stiffened in their final third and turned back many Bearcat chances as B-C failed to push their advantage.

Late in the second half, the Eagles' Andrew McKinney converted a penalty kick in the 77th minute to level the match at 1-1 and send the game to overtime.

In the second overtime period, the Bearcats were rescued by German exchange-student Tyll Weyer's header from another Davis' corner kick with just under one minute remaining to salvage a 2-1 victory.

The win gives B-C a 45-13-4 overall mark against Airport and a 25-7-1 mark at Eagle Stadium. Coach Kevin Heise's record against the arch-rival Eagles improved to 24-1 and 14-0 at Eagle Stadium. Brookland-Cayce now owns a 30-1-1 mark against Airport since 1987. The two sides will meet again on April 24 at The Cage.

Bearcat Duo to Sign with USC-Sumter
