Bearcats Open Regular Season With Road Win

Blythewood, SC -- Brookland-Cayce overcame an early 1-0 deficit to claim a 2-1 regular season opener win on the road at Blythewood HS on Tuesday, February 27. Scoring for the Bearcats were junior Timothy Duzan (24:12) and freshman Taylor Lewis (37:21), who netted his second game-winner this season. Freshman Christopher Duzan started in goal and allowed just one goal in the first half of play, while senior JC Gypin (injured) played the second half and played brilliantly with a shutout half.

Bearcats JV Kickoff Classic -- February 23-24

Brookland-Cayce will host the Bearcats JV Kickoff Classic this weekend at The Cage. Joining the Bearcats will be Airport, Blythewood, Cardinal Newman, Hammond, Heathwood Hall, Lexington, and Ridge View.

B-C will kickoff the tourney action at 4:45 pm on Friday versus SCISA Hammond. The Bearcats will face the winner/loser of the Airport/Ridge View match on Saturday morning.

Tickets are $4 per match or you may purchase a Tournament Pass for $10.

Bearcats Finish 8th at CSC

Mount Pleasant, SC -- Brookland-Cayce opened the 2007 season with a 2-1 victory over new Class 4A high school South Pointe of Rock Hill on Friday, February 16 in the opening round of the Carolina Soccer Classic at the Patriots Point Soccer Complex in Mt. Pleasant. Scoring for the Bearcats were junior Brodie Wall and freshman Taylor Lewis. Lewis' goal in the 80th minute rescued the win for B-C.

On Saturday, the Bearcats posted a 0-1-1 mark as Class 2A #1 Bishop England blanked B-C 2-0 with two second half scores. After a lunch at Firehouse Subs, Brookland-Cayce tied Class 4A Summerville 0-0 in the afternoon match. The team ate a fantastic dinner at Zeus Seafood & Grille Saturday night.

The Bearcats received a tough draw on Sunday as they played Class 4A #2 Wando and got drubbed 8-0 by the superior Warriors. The wounded Bearcats trailed 2-0 after just three minutes of action and could never get back in the match. B-C finished 8th in the 12-team tourney with a 1-2-1 record.

Brookland-Cayce will be off this week and kickoff the regular season Tuesday, February 27 at Class 3A Blythewood.
