Palmetto Cup Review

Cayce, SC -- Brookland-Cayce hosted the Palmetto Cup -- The Southeast's Premier Boys High School Soccer Tournament -- April 8-11, 2009. The Bearcats posted just a 1-3 record in the tourney, but faced some of the best teams in the nation in the process.

B-C defeated Class 2A Walhalla 5-4 in a wild and woolly opener in which junior Taylor Lewis netted all five goals! Truly one of the most spectacular individual performances in Bearcat Soccer history!

In the second match, Bob Jones (Madison, AL) downed the Bearcats 3-1, but B-C had a chance to level the match with under one minute remaining, before a full-field counter produced the two-goal margin.

Friday night, B-C fell to Tennessee's #2 ranked Farragut Admirals (Knoxville) 1-0 in perhaps the team's most inspired effort of the season!

On Saturday, the exhausted Bearcats got off to a rough start against Oklahoma #1 Norman North and lost 3-0 to the TimberWolves.

Taylor Lewis was named to the All-Tournament Team for Brookland-Cayce.
