B-C Makes Solid Showing at CSC

Despite a weather-interrupted trip to Mount Pleasant for the 11th Annual Carolina Soccer Classic, the Bearcats posted a respectable 0-1-2 mark in one of the state's premier preseason boys tournaments. B-C opened with a 0-0 draw against Class 4A James Island on Friday night and followed that performance with a controversial 2-2 tie versus 4A Fort Dorchester in the nightcap. The Bearcats seemed to have a 2-1 victory in hand, but a seemingly endless clock allowed the Patriots to draw level with just one second remaining!?!?!?!?!?!

On Saturday, Brookland-Cayce faced Class 2A four-time defending state champion Bishop England and fell 2-0 to the Battling Bishops. The Bearcats were scheduled to square off against fellow Class 3A opponent Hilton Head Island on Sunday, but inclement weather halted those plans.

In all, it was a very productive weekend for Brookland-Cayce. The team was able to enjoy some "bonding time" together at the Best Western Patriots Point as well as at Subway, a great dinner Saturday night at Zeus Grill & Seafood, followed by a nightcap at the Ye Old Fashioned Ice Cream & Sandwich Cafe. To top it off, B-C escaped the tournament relatively injury free aside from some soreness, bumps & bruises, and a few guys with some illness. We're looking forward to the regular season!
